Mio Suemasa, Bio

Born: 1st April, 1983

Home: Kobe, Japan

Suemasa was the first Asian rider to win a MTB World Championship. Her ultimate goal is to be MTB world champion. And why not? She won a host of titles since starting trial biking in 1992. It took just two seasons for her to become Japan’s National Champion and took the World Championship in 1996 and 1997. Suemasa started downhill mountain bike racing in 1998.

In 2000, she won three major titles in Asia and in 2001 became Downhill Junior World Champion. In 2002 she changed from racing on the domestic circuit to World Cup racing and in her third season of world cup racing she came second. That was the start.

By 2009 Suemasa had won the Asian Championships for the nine times and won the Japanese National Championships ten times with many World Cup podium finishes in between.
