If you ever find yourself competing with Eirik Veraas Larsen, you know you've made it. The legendary canoeist has been a regular winner on the global scene. Having started canoeing at the age of ten, the Norwegian quickly took to the water. And it wasn't long before the titles started to come.

After intense training, Larsen's breakthrough came in 2000. As the newly-crowned Norwegian K1 10,000 metres champion, Larsen competed in the European Championships. No one expected Larsen to win it. But that's exactly what he did, powering to glory in the K2 1000 metres competition. His first World Championship wins came a year later in the K2 1000 metres and K2 marathon events.

Undaunted, Larsen continued to impress on the biggest stage. In 2004, he won an Olympic gold medal in the K1 1000 metres and a bronze in the K2 1000 metres alongside Nils Olav Fjeldheim. Even with such impressive medal haul, Larsen is still going strong.
